CONCERT!!

Last night was the Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood concert at Turning Stone Casino and oh man was it AMAZING!!! We had pretty good seats. We were on the floor in like the 14th row or something, so Troy was wrong about being 8th row, but hey they were still really good! Jake Owen opened, he was okay, he was kind of weird though. Carrie sang just about every song from her album, along with "Sweet Child of Mine", it was an okay rendition but it really wasn't all that great. She also came out and sang "Whiskey Lullaby" with Brad. Again, she was good, but her voice was just too strong for that song. Brad was absolutely amazing! There's really nothing more to say about him, he's just a great singer and he has an awesome stage presence! Troy, being the smart kid he is, brought his camera but realized he had no batteries in it when we got to the casino. Why we didn't just BUY batteries is still a mystery to me. I ended up taking a bunch of pictures with my phone instead. We were right on the aisle too so it was really easy to walk up to part of the stage and get some close ups. They probably would have come out better if I had a flash, but hey they're better than nothing. Enjoy.

I really like this one <3

We gambled a little bit afterward. We got $10 free play for going to the concert. Mat and I both lost it all and Troy won about $12. By the time we got back to campus it was around 3am. I was sooo ridiculously tired!! It was nice sleeping in this morning though. My suitemate Pam and I got brunch and then went and stole Troy's car while he was at work and we went shopping. It was a really fun afternoon! We bought Troy fun keychains because he doesn't have any, so hopefully he'll like them. I've got about an hour before we pick him up then it's time to get dinner, get ready, and PARTAY it up at the Halloween Party!!! :-D Check back, there will definately be pictures up from it soon!

Happied

I realize "happied" is not actually a word, but it's the only word I have to describe my mood today. (It was actually due to a slip on Chelsea's part that I found the word and I've been using it ever since). ANYWAY...the reason I'm so "happied":
A couple of weeks ago I was stressing out big time over a couple of papers I had to write because I had a huge work load and I was working on the show. I also had a midterm to worry about. Well I guess the worrying wasn't necessary. I got one of my papers back today, the one I was less stressed over, along with the midterm. They were both for my American Lit survey class. I got an 80 on the midterm, which is really good considering the class average was a 60. I've done better, but I also could have done worse, so I'm not complaining. The thing that really made my day though was the grade on the paper. I actually managed to get an A+!!!! I completely BSed the whole thing the night before it was due. I was expecting maybe a B+ or A- or something, but an A+!!! I'm freaking beside myself with joy :-D. I've never gotten an A+ on a college paper. AHH! Haha, ok sorry. That basically made my day, along with the fact that I've been hanging out with a bunch of people watching Disney movies for the past two nights. Yeah we're cool college kids like that :-P.
I'm so excited for tomorrow too!! I'm leaving my fencing class early so that we can get to the casino for the Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood concert. I'm RIDICULOUSLY excited!! We have 8th row tickets :-D hehe I can't wait!
Saturday is going to be a lot of fun too. It's the Mask & Hammer halloween party. No one is allowed in the door without a costume, some of which will be pretty interesting from what I've been hearing. I'm being boring and going as a witch. I was going to go as Holly from Breakfast at Tiffany's but I can't find the right hat, gloves, or shoes. I bought a little black dress, so I just got a witch hat, broom, and striped leggings (because apparently they're in style again for some unknown reason). Troy and I are going trick-or-treating on Tuesday night too. A couple other people might be going with us, but we're basically going to act like 5 year olds :-) It'll be a good time.

WAR!

Last night I got bored with studying, as usual, so I went next door. Recently the boys have been buying nerf dart guns to play with. How mature right? Well they're a lot of fun so don't laugh! Last night we had an all out war in the lounge on my floor. We tipped the tables over and were rolling and diving and dying dramaticall and heroically. It was hilarious. Then we moved out into the hallway and started shooting the poor randoms who happened to walk by. A couple of the boys even rushed the RA's room. It was fun :-) Oh college life!

Today was a lot of fun too! I got bored so I went to the Fine Arts building cuz that's where all the theatre people hang out when we're bored. I ended up going to the Small (Southside Mall=tiny, therefore the Small) with Kyle, Devon, and Phace. Phace and Devon both bought new suits for the Snowflake, which is the Mask & Hammer wonter formal. I had no idea there was a formal, so I'm excited. Anyway, I helped to outfit the boys and let me tell you they looked good ;-) Then we came back to campus and hung out in FA some more before we went to the performance class' midterm performance. Both Kyle and Phace were both in it, along with a bunch of my other friends. They were all great! They each sang a song from an American musical. That's pretty much been my day. I'd say it was a good one, even if it wasn't very productive.

Oh I took my American lit midterm. I'm hopong for a B. Fat chance :-P There was too much material to cover to be completely prepared in my opinion, so I kind of gave up studying after a while. Oh well, we'll see how I did on tuesday. I also got my midterm progress report. I'm passing everything at least :-) It doesn't give detail, just says if you're passing or failing. Ok well that's about it, time to blast showtunes and annoy my suitemates :-D

Special Request

Ok Mar, here you go.

The cast party was absolutely AWESOME! Lots of drunken fools doing ridiculous things. At the Mask & Hammer meeting today we all told our funny stories. 99.9% of them involved the president hitting things. He hit Phace in the face with a beer can, he pretended to be the hulk and ran into Diana's moving car, he jumped on Kyle, he ran down the stairs and Ben started screaming that he was the ball from Indiana Jones, he punched Jake in the face (All in good fun of course). Oh he also flooded the kitchen in an effort to warm Ben up!! haha It was funny. George tried to convince me that he had a British accent, so I started talking in an accent too (keep in mind I have a terrible accent when I'm sober). There were a whole bunch of crazy things said and done, it was so much fun!

It's been a while since I've posted any pictures, so here are a few I stole from my friend Melissa. We took LOTS of pictures, it was great! A quote from the president would go well right here so here it is: "Does anyone else wake up in the morning an dread going on facebook to see the pictures from the night before? I check my e-mail and it says so-an-so has tagged you in X amount of pictures (makes terrified face). Then you pray that you're the first person to wake up so you can untag them."

Downside

I've never really had a problem with the work that was given in any of my classes, but for some reason the paper I just wrote was like pulling teeth. I had to "research and comment upon the influence of the English Romantic poets on Mary Shelley's FRANKENSTEIN." It was terrible. Five pages of complete BS, and one of the most dreadful processes I have ever endured. Yes, I put it off until the last minute. No, I had no research done when I sat down to write it last night. Yes it is due in 45 minutes and I just finished it. Yes I woke up at 7am and skipped math class just to get it done. No I will not be making it through the day.
This is the second paper I've had to write in the past few days. The other one was a four page paper discussing Mark Twain's ideas about government as presented in Huck Finn. I was pretty close to declaring Theatre my primary and quite possibly my ONLY major, but don't worry I haven't gone that far. I'm just extremely stressed out today. I have to hand this paper in at 11 and sit through a 50 minute class with practically no sleep. I then have a break for about an hour, in which I will ideally take a short nap (fat chance). From 1-3 I have my stagecraft lecture, which I am hoping will let out early because I'm taking the college writing exam at 3. So another bullshit essay to see if I can stay in my major, lovely. Then I have a Mask & Hammer meeting at 4 (basically a drama club meeting). It was supposed to be a stage combat lesson taught by some guy that's somehow affiliated with the college, but due to conflicting schedules he is no longer coming today. It's a bummer, but I'd much rather do something like tha on a day where I actually have the energy to move. Ok, well I have to make the final revisions to this paper now, possibly grab a quick shower and ifI'm lucky I'll have time to grab breakfast on the way to class.

If you don't hear from me for a week, it's because I'll be taking a small coma to catch up on sleep I've deprived myself of :-)

Gold Star

Yes, I've given myself a gold star for my grades lol. We got out Lit midterms back today, which was 40 multiple guess/fill in the blanks and an essay, I got a 97 on it! Full credit on the essay and only two wrong on the first part! :-D We also have 10 point quizzes every few days, I've gotten mostly 10s and a couple of 9s on those so far. I'm definately happy with that class! My American lit class is going just as well, we haven't had an major tests yet, but I've been doing really well on quizzes, nothing below a 97. Stagecraft is also going well. We've only had one test so far and i got a 98 on it, only one question wrong. We have another test on hand tools today, so that shouldn't be a problem :-P. Fencing, well I have no idea. I've done the assignments, I'm pretty sure i'm improving, and I actually show up for class, unlike about 2/3 of the class. We just won't go into math though...I was a little too cocky going into the first test and didn't study since it's math for morons, as a result I didn't do that well. The next test should be a lot better though, I actually know how to add and subtract positive and negative numbers, follow order of operations, and solve linear equations. Yes, these are the sorts of things we are "learning" (rather reviewing from 9th grade). It's pathetic really because people still ask the dumbest questions and I want to shoot myself in that class. The fact that it's at 9am MWF doesn't help either.

Overall I am EXTREMELY happy with life right now. Everything is going really well lately. The show opens tomorrow, so tonight will be the last rehearsal, hopefully everything goes perfectly! It should though, everyone working on the show is great. I can'tw ait until Saturday either! Some of the fam is coming up to see the show, it'll be our closing so it'll probably be one of the best nights to see the show. It also means that the cast party is that night...I'm so excited!
And then in a couple weeks I get to go see Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley and gamble a little ;-) Ahhh life is great :-D

I have a couple of papers to write this week, which will be put off until the day before they're due, but that's about the only downer I can think of right now. Gotta get in some last minute studying of the hand tools...just in case I forgot anything. Wish me luck!!

Wait Until Dark

The first production here opens in less than a week and I'm so excited! I'm only working crew on it, but it's an awesome show! There's not much we have to do so I have a lot of dead time at rehearsals, which I should ideally be using to get homework done, but of coarse I'm not. Last night was a Q-Q rehearsal, which means we went from tech cue to tech cue (lights, sounds, etc.) and skipped over the acting bits that didn't have any effects. We started at 6:30 and didn't walk out of the theatre until about midnight. I was exhausted! Tonight won't be much better either, we have to do costume parade before we even start anything...basically I'll get back here at 12:30 again. Luckily, my neighbor Troy is in the show too so I don't have to walk across campus alone in the middle of the night. Oneonta is a much safer campus than Buff State, but still, I don't want to take a chance. We always stop for food anyway since everyone is absolutely starving by the time we leave, half the time I'm almost too tired to eat it though. I'm so tired today. I got to bed around 1 and had to be up in time for a 9 o'clock class this morning. It sounds like it would be enough sleep, but it's really not. I have to go take a lit midterm in a few minutes too, that should be fun considering I didn't actually finish the book we were supposed to read. I know exactly what happens, but still. After that it's NAPTIME! woot lol. I get out of there at noon and have a 3.5 hour break until fencing. After that I have to take a quick shower and then spend the rest of my life in the Hamblin Theatre. I might try to actually accomplish something tonight, but I doubt I will. Eh oh well.

Off to take that midterm now, wish me luck!
