Photo Hunt

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt

(because I'm bored)

Theme:Old

This is pretty old, seeing as how I was about 4 or so here. That is Sara, who at one point was my best friend, and Adam, my friend Maggie's little brother. Please disregard the fact that I was wearing that dress. Mom, how could you put me in that????

Nearing the End

Nearing the End

This is my last weekend in Buffalo. I'll be going home on Tuesday afternoon, never to return again. I'm pretty excited about this, but at the same time, it's rather depressing. We're choosing not to think about leaving this weekend because there are a lot of people in our group that will not be returning. So instead of dwelling on the sadness of our parting, we chose to party all weekend. Thursday night was the party at the soccer house. It really wasn't that fun, but at least they didn't have cheap nasty beer. Jen, Michelle, Ashlee, and I all left early becasue we weren't having much fun and we were freezing (it was an outside party). Once we got back Ash and I decided soup and popcorn would be a great idea. Well, it would have been better if I still had a microwace in my room. The people I rented the fridge/microwave contraption from had picked it up that afternoon. So we had to go all the way down to the kitchen and cook it there. We made a huge mess, but oh well. Then RahJosh decided to stop by and he and I took a trip to 2-4-1 pizza, his treat. I love 2-4-1, especially when I'm not paying for it lol. Then we eventually got back to my room and just hung out and talked until about 5:30 in the morning when I decided to fall asleep as he was talking lol. It was fun. I finally got to catch up on some sleep the next day and I loved it. I returned one of my books later that day (yesterday) so Ashlee and I could have LaNova one last time. We ordered so much food it was ridiculous, but what was more ridiculous was that we ate it all. Then we went to RahJosh's suite, he was having a party because he had surfaced in his frat the night before. It was pretty boring at first, but eventually we started having fun. Somehow his ceiling got wet, which I noticed as I was jumping from bed to bed. Don't ask, I have no idea what was going on. After the randomness that was last night, Ashlee, Josh and I went to Pano's where I decided it would be a good idea to call Q. We passed the phone around the table. It was pretty funny. I felt bad afterwards becasue he's sick and it was 2:45am and he had work at 9, but then I got over feeling bad because I had french fries. Pano's french fries are the best!!! That's about it for last night. I think I'm just going to stay in tonight and go to bed early, possibly study for my finals a bit, everyone else is going to the hockey house, but it's not at the good hockey house so it'll be a bust. That's it for my last weekend in Buffalo. I think I might actually miss this place a little bit.

but I'll get over it....

Jello Wrestling!!

Jello Wrestling!!
Now that the Mexico blog is over, let's go on to the festivities that have been happening here. We'll start with Friday when I was anonymously sent 18 red roses with a note that said "Meet me outside your building at 10pm tonight". So i being the logical thinker I am, pretty much figured out who it was by the end of the day, and what do you know, I was right. It was Q. He drove 5 hours to give me the 19th rose for my 19th birthday. It was really sweet. He spent the weekend here and I took him to Pano's twice, we saw Silent Hill (good movie) and he experienced the boredom that is Buff State. I also introduced him to the other Josh. It was creeping having both there at the same time, it was like they were twins. It's rather disturbing...they're just too similar. Now we get to the fun stuff...on Saturday night we went to a party at the UB Track house. It was jello wrestling night. I brought two pairs of shorts and two beaters just in case Ash and I decided to participate. After watching a few games of beer pong and downing the weakest jungle juice ever, I decided to let Whitney and Janelle use my clothes. Once the wrestling actually started I changed my mind. So that left Jen and I searching for clothes. Mike, being the nice guy he is, donated his boxers, and Andrew likewise donated his. Jen borrowed some random chick's cami and I used one of my extra beaters. The jello was so freaking cold it was ridiculous!!! It was strawberry flavored, so I got over it though. Once we were done we pretty much attacked everyone who wasn't already covered in jello. Then we crammed 4 or 5 of us in a shower stall. It was fun lol. Once we got back to our campus I had to wash my hair about 4 times to get the jello out. I still have a couple bruises and I was finding jello everywhere for a couple days! That's my fun jello wrestling story...here are a few pictures....

Group shot...when we were still clean, and only slightly wasted.

Miss Ashlee and me :-)

We were all that color for a while after...at least we tasted and smelled good though lol

Jen got me good...

I got her back better :-)

Day 7

Day 7--The Finale
On our last day in paradise, a few of us decided to go horseback riding. This actually turned out to be the worst decision we could have made. First they ran ou of beginner horses, so I was the only one in our whole group that got on a horse (I was intermediate). There were 54 people in the group I got stuck with. Do you know how annoying it is to go that slow with that many people? Anyway, I put up with the being alone part and we finally got to the beach we were heading for. They wouldn't even let us trot the horses! It was so boring. Anyway, wen we were at the beach we took about a 30 minute break, so I sat there hoping we'd be going back soon. The only real fun part of the trip was when I got to ride bareback in the water. I love bareback :-) We finally got back to the ranch (if you could call it that lol) and I waited for about an hour before the others got back. Most of the people had decided to go back to the resort when they found out there weren't enough horses, but a few stated. So we waited forever for the shuttle to take us back. Once we got back I found a bunch of people eating lunch so Noelle and I had a fun lunch with Daniel and Miguel. They invited us to go out with them later that night, but we weren't allowed to leave the resort so naturally we didn't go. That and we had to get up REALLY early to catch our flight the next morning. So, being the theatre geeks we are, we asked them if they could take us backstage, just to look around. They consulted the director, who was also eating there, and told us to meet them later that afternoon. After lunch we spent some more time in the pool and randomly met this kid named Wes, later called "accessory boy". He nearly drowned me several times becasue he decided to latch onto me, hence the name. We played a few rounds of chicken and Alex and I reined supreme, even against two fully grown strange men. We chalked it up to the fact that I'm hott and he's Korean. Shortly after this victory Noelle and I ditched so we could get our sweet tats touched up and then go meet Daniel and Miguel. The costumes they had there were so amazing, and they were everywhere! There were two big dressing rooms and the main backstage area just full of the birghtest and strangest costumes ever. Daniel was a bit tipsy and was very entertaining, right Nobe? lol After naps and showers we went to dinner at El Mercado and then saw the show, which was really good that night. Daniel and Miguel sat with Nobe and I for the opening act, which was some kind of Mayan dance thing. They felt the need to commentate which was a bit annoying. Then it came time for the main show, and it was AWESOME! It was a vegas theme and all the gorgeous star friends were in spandex hehe. We stayed after the show and did the "Hey Baby" dance a few times along with the "Dalle Pa'a" dance. Aftrer that we got ready for our last night of dancing 'til dawn. Arin decided to try a kamikaze, but instead of taking the shot like a champ, she sipped it. lol. I've never seen anyone take a shot in four sips. The result was Arin in need of a designated walker. We left happy and jut a little tipsy. It was a great last night. :-)

A pile of us enojoying the pool :-)

Champs in the middle right thurr..only it was the other way around when we were actually playing.

Water ballet?

That thinng clinging on to me would be Accessory boy. We have no idea what Josh and Noelle are doing in this picture so don't ask.

Arin and I on the walk back to our rooms. She looks more sober than I do! Haha

P.S. I'm 19 today wooo! Only one more teenage year left :-( I'll definately make the most of being a kid while I can still get away with it haha!!!

Day 6

Day 6

This was another relaxing day spent at the resort. We slept in a little then, after making amends for the previous night, Noelle, Mandy, and I goofed around in the pool for a while. It was so much fun, we were acting like we were about 6 lol. Later, we met another star friend named Daniel (very cute) and he got us to play along with the games they were having that day. Basically we just had to do the dance the song that they played about 80 times a day. I don't think any of us will ever forget the "Hey Baby" song and dance!! We watched the canoe race thing, then got bored and walked away. We ran into Miguel when we were getting dry towels and he was so sweet :-) Jose decided to show up then as well, he took Noelle's towel from her and we were thinking he was going to put it around her the way Miguel had done for me, but no, the genius took the towel from her, folded it and handed it back. We looked at him as if he were retarded and then just walked away. It was hilarious. We learned how to do the Merengue. I dance with Miguel of course, Mandy danced with Jose, and poor Noelle got stuck with the tattoo butt lady. She was everywhere! I swear we saw her at least 8 times a day! Oh, and she had a stop sign tattooed in her butt. Not ON, but IN. She liked to walk around in thongs. It was nasty. ANYWHO...we spent some more time between the beach and the pool, went to dinner and ditched the show. It was boring. The disco was pretty dead that night too, so we just went back to our room and hung out.

I don't have pictures from this day, so this picture of random soldiers on the beach will do. I have no idea what they were doing there...

Day 5

Day 5

This was the day of our excursion to the Mayan Ruins at Tulum. It was really neat seeing the ruins, but it was so hot and dry that day that most of us were ready to get back on the bus and go back to the pool! After a tour of the ruins, and lots of picture taking we hit the beach back at the resort. There is nothing better than reading on bright sunny, white sand beaches under the shade of straw unmbrellas with a nice ocean breeze to cool you off. Well, maybe taking a nap in those conditions could be better, but since I did both that afternoon I guess it doesn't matter. Later that evening Charlie's Angels (Noelle, Em & I) got ready for our night together. We went to the Mexican restaurant and the food was amazing! After dinner, we went to the show again and I was picked to go up onstage for one of the pre-show audience participation things. I basically had to sing bits of different songs whenever the mic came to me. I was in the top 3 out of about 15, then I blanked lol. The show was ok that night, but it was a bit long, so we left early to go change for the club. That night after I got some love from "Skunk Head" (who we now knew as Miguel) I ended up going to the pool with Jose around 2 am to break the rules and go swimming. This basically scared my roomies and caused lots of drama. After this it was decided by a certain parent that I was a whore, even though the only thing that happened was Jose kissed me (and not very well I might add), but hey what can I say, I just give off that whorish vibe apparently lol. So I got back to my room and was informed that one of the girls 'liked' Jose and bassically hated me now. A great way to end the night don't you think? I still had lots of fun though, so it was okay.

Watch tower or something to that effect I think

Mayan Temple

My favorite picture from Tulum! I love this!

Noelle and I pretending to be happy in the sweltering heat. We really should have brought bathing suits to Tulum!

This is what we saw as we ate our oh so festive lunch at Subway lol. Yes those are men swinging from their feet. We're not sure why though.

A whole bunch of us enjoying the ridiculously warm ocean!

Charlie's Angel's on our night out :-)

Day 4

Day 4

This day most of the group went on a snorkeling excursion. From what I heard it was a really fun trip, even though most of them came back sunburned. I on the other hand, went shopping again. Noelle's mom, Alex's mom, and I went back to Play del Carmen and I bought a new dress for that night since we were celebrating my 18th birthday. It was a week early, but I figured celebrating my brithday in Cancun would be more fun than celebrating it in AP. Shopping in Mexico was so much fun! All the venders fight for your attention. I was called Barbie, among other names, one of the guys walked arm in arm with me for a while trying to sell me something or other lol. It was hilarious and the three of us had a great time. As we were waiting for the bus back to the resort some old man came over and got about three inches from my face and told me I had gorgeous eyes. He then tried to get me to marry his son, who was some type of BMX champ or something. As he went to leave he leaned down (we were sitting on the curb) and I thought he was just going to shake my hand or something, but no he leaned down and kissed me. The three of us were completely weirded out. Well then we got back to the resort and unfortunately my birthday dinner didn't go as well as we had planned. Even though it was just the kids, the group was too big so we couldn't all sit together. That and I quickly learned that I'm not a huge fan of Mediterranian food. The show was also dissappointing and the club was pretty dead that night. I went to bed kind of disappointed, but hey, I was in Mexico and with most of my closest friends, so don't think I'm complaining!

A very small portion of Playa del Carmen

You can buy tequilla EVERYWHERE! We brought back a few bottles ;-)

Me & Em (I love that dress!!)

Alex's present to me was dressing the other guys lol, Oh Alex!

Day 3

Day 3

On the third day we all got up early and went to Playa del Carmen, which was an awesome shopping center type thing. There were so many awesome things I wanted, but I ended up with only a sirong. It's really pretty and I ended up bringing it to college for decoration lol. After a morning full of shopping and one of the dads nearly getting in a fight we went back to the resort and hung out by the pool some more. I'm almost positive that this was the day that Arin's dad was getting drinks for us and as he made his way down the incline of the pool bar he started to slip. He was so determined not to let the drinks go under the water that he looked like he was drowning. But alas, the drinks went under, so we just got new ones. The whole section of the pool was laughing hysterically at the show that Joe put on and the bar tender only allowed him to carry one drink at a time after that. Later, Noelle, Emily, and I got our henna tattoos, and while doing so we met a boy named Jose. Now, at this point we thought Jose was a rather good looking kid and he was really cool and everything. So we talked and flirted and all that and then went back to our rooms to shower and get dressed for dinner. Again, we went to the show and I danced with "Skunk Head" who no longer had the skunk look, but was sporting a head of completely black hair, and he looked MUCH better lol. After the show we went to the disco of course and again, I danced with "Skunk Head". After we left the club we decided to take a walk along the beach in the moonlight. It was absolutely gorgeous!!! That night we all went to bed ridiculously happy and so content with life. It seemed like this life was going to last forever. How I wish it had...

Me, Em, and Noelle (aka Charlie's Angels) on the beach. I'm sporting the new sirong ;-)

My sweet henna tattoo that was really uneven, but I liked it anyway.

Group shot after dinner and before the show. This was a very very small portion of us.

Noelle, Em, Nikki, Nikki (NENN) on the moonlit beach :-) I love these girls <3

Day 2

Day 2
Our first full day on at the resort was very relaxing. We explored the resort, sat by pool, swam in the ocean, and made dinner reservations for the week. We tested out the other buffet for dinner that night, which turned out to be exactly the same as the one we ate at the night before lol. Then we decided to check out the show and I met one of the hottset guys ever. We didn't know his real name at this point so we called him "Skunk Head" becasue he had dark hair but a bleached fauxhawk. He was still gorgeous though. He worked at the resort as a "Star Friend" which were the entertainers who did the shows and had games and activities during the day. He asked me to dance before the show started so we danced and he was all compliments and I loved every minute of it! Em, Matt, Noelle, Mark, and Kristin were with me that night and we all danced and had a great time before the show started. Once the show began Em was picked to be a judge for the lipsync. It was such a funny show! After that we went to the club that was on the resort and danced all night long! Miguel was there and we danced some more as we all collected the various goodies that were being handed out in honor of the Carnival theme. We got back to our rooms tired and sweaty, but ecstatic! This was one of my favorite days of the whole week!

The Lobby

The main building of the resort wasn't a building, it was open marble walkways. It was gorgeous!

One of the pool games brought to us by the Star Friends lol (I think that's Shane on it)

The path from the rasort to the beach.

Gettin' our groove on at the Discoteca! (This wasn't actually from this day, but I thought it would be good filler.) I don't know who took this picture. I found it on some random person's webshots and took it becasue we're in it.

Oh, Mexico

Oh, Mexico!

This time last year I was having the time of my life with the best group of friends I could ever hope to find. We spent a week in paradise together and I'll never forget any of it. There were 15 seniors, lots of parents, and assorted siblings. Our total head count was 35. The parents were great about letting us do our own thing, and the resort was so big we rarely ran into people from our group! Oh, and I must mention that I will never go on another vacation unless it is all-inclusive! Not paying for meals and drinks (alcohol included) was amazing! It's a good thing I wrote everything down, otherwise I would have forgotten a lot of this stuff. This post is based off of one I wrote the day we got back, so it's pretty accurate.
I was planning to blog the trip day by day the way Kari did for her honeymoon (loved that idea by the way), but I've been more concerned with school and getting better. So let's pretend I started this on the 16th.

DAY 1
We departed AP at 12:01 exactly, all wearing the "Mexico '05" t-shits we had made. The trip was kicked off by a champagne toast, which no one objected to since we all agreed that since we would be drinking in Mexico there was no sense in waiting until we left the country (or the town for that matter lol). Three hours and one McDonald's break later we arrived at the Newark International Airport. We were a few hours early, so while some members of our mob got more food others of us went to the departure gate, where I was selected for a random search lol. They made me take off my shoes and belt and waved the wand over me and THOUGHOULY went through my stuff. I didn't see the point in taking off my shoes though, I was wearing flip flops. After that fiasco, we sat down to wait for the rest of our group and decided it would be a good time to bust out our coloring books (mine was Disney Princesses). Once everyone showed up we became a massive tangle of people on the floor, which was actaully rather comfortable as I racall. We finally boarded and got a little sleep on the four hour flight. As we stepped off the plane into the blinding sunlight we all began to sweat immediately. Customs was a bitch, it took nearly an hour to get through and Noelle and I were ready to turn around and get back on the plane just for the air conditioning. Eventually we were done with that mess and our bus was waiting to take us to Paraiso del Mar!! Our Apple Vacations rep Aldo was a riot and we had a great time on the ride to the resort. By 2PM we were checked into our rooms and putting on bathing suits in the lobby bathroom! Our rooms weren't ready yet, so we left our bags with the bellboys and headed off for the pool and beach. I shared a room with Noelle and Emily and we managed to lose one of our keys within ten minutes. Tucking a plastic card into the side of your bathing suit isn't a good idea, especially when you go in the ocean with it. We had to have a maid let us into our room to get the other one and promptly had the other one replaced. Once that was taken care of we showered and dressed for dinner at one of the various buffets. We were so exhausted that we passed out right after dinner!
aaaaaaand here are a few pics!

Noelle & Josh..we were all being rather obnoxious

Alex & Arin being all "sexxay" n stuff

I was tired. The floor seemed like the best idea.

Our 'heap o' teens'.

Checking in to the resort, and so glad to be in Paradise by the Sea!!

She still saying it's allergies so now I have to snort things and pop pills. I've decided that nasal spray is one of the most obnoxious things in existance. I'm still working on this template, so give me a little time and it'll all work out. I have class in about 5 minutes, so gotta run!

New Look

I went to the website that Mary reccommended and actually found a lot of cool templates. This one ultimately won out, obviously. I modified it a little, mostly because it was all shoved to one side and made me feel lop-sided. (One of my biggest idiosyncracies is that things have to be even or stress out.) I still want to make a couple of changes to it. I have a really neat idea for the fairy at the top, but I'm waiting to talk to a friend so I can find out exactly what I need to do.

I think I'm actually starting to feel a bit better tonight. My throat isn't bothering me as much anymore, though my head still hurts and my eyes are burning. Of course, that is probably due to the lack of sleep the past three nights. I'm going back to the health center tomorrow before my classes but if I wake up feeling fine I may just cancel and actually admit that it may have been allergies. Either that or my amazing immune system got rid of whatever it was I really had. lol

Ange called me earlier tonight and gave me some really awesome news! She works with the sister of the owner of The Costumer on Central Ave. That's the place where we rented a lot of our costumes and props from in high school so I know my way around that place pretty well. Anywho, she called to saythat she can probably get me a job there this summer!!! I'm so excited! That's the best news I've gotten all week. She said my theatre experience will definately be a plus and I'll be making about $12 an hour, I'm definately not complaining about that one! She's going to get me more info and let me know what's going on later this week, but now I have my hopes up so I hope it actually happens!

I think I may be able to sleep tonight, which figures, since I actually have to get up early tomorrow morning. But I just keep telling myself that there are only four more days of classes for me, then two days of finals, with lots of free time in between when I will NOT be studying! In 12 days I will be OUT OF HERE!!

Allergies?

Apparently I've randomly developed allergies. For the past couple of days I haven't felt so great, my sinuses are all congested , my throat is swollen to the point where it hurts to talk or swallow. I haven't been able to sleep the past two nights, that's how uncomfortable it is. I feel like my head is going to explode from all the pressure and fluid. Either that or I'll die of hunger since I can't swallow anything. I went to the health center as soon as I got back today and they perscibed Allegra D. The whole time I thought I was just getting strep throat since that is what hurts the most. I have no idea what it is that caused all this, I just can't wait until these pills make it go away, I need to get some sleep! I didn't go to either of my two classes this afternoon, there is no way I could have sat through them. I don't know if I'll be going to class tomorrow either, or rather today, since it's almost 6am. We'll see if these meds do the trick. I feel a little better, but my throat is so swollen and sore that I can't stand it! It was hard enough for me to sit through a floor meeting tonight without randomly bursting into tears (I cry really easily when I don't feel well) so we'll see about class. I suppose I should try getting a few more hours of sleep if I can and just hope that I feel better when I wake up :-/

Report Card

I'm pretty psyched about my current grade status, so I feel the need to share. The most recent grades are as follows.
History book review (Black Boy): B+. I don't think this man gives out As. He says he does, but I highly doubt it. I have gotten nothing but B+s all semester no matter how hard I try and/or study.
Psychology test: 91 (woot woot). I believe that would make my overall grade somewhere around the high 80s, whch I plan to pull up with the final exam. But as it stands I think I have about a B+ in that class as well. I did extra credit, so hopefully when factored in it will boost me to an A-.
Theatre: this one is a tough call. I've gotten a 92 and a 96 on the two papers we've handed in, and there is one more due later this month. My attendance for that class is awesome and I'm assuming I've shown some type of improvement, which should give me at least an A-. But Dave is a tricky one. I never got below a 95 on anything in his class last semester yet ended up with an A- when it should have been an A.
English: this grade depends on my portfolio grade. The end. I'm hoping to get at least a 3.5/4 or higher, which would give me an A. My research paper is a little iffy though, but we'll see when I hand that in for the first revision tomorrow.
Astronomy: This is the one subject I'm feeling the most accomplished in. I've already brought my grade way up from what it was earlier in the semester. With the last test we took, I was able to pull my grade up to a 91.4 overall, which means another A. :-D

If all goes well with my plans then I should end up with 3 As, and A-, and B+. I have no idea what that factors out to GPA-wise, buuuuut I'm hoping for about a 3.5. As long as I get above a 3.4 (what I got last semester) I'll be happy. It doesn't really matter what my GPA is becasue it doesn't count at Oneonta, but in my head, it matters. I can't be aloof when it comes to my grades. I'm one of those dorky kids that gets distressed when I get anything lower than a B.

Too Picky??

Tonight Josh told me that he's turning into me when it comes to the opposite sex. No, he's not suddenly interested in boys lol, but he told me that he always finds something wrong with the girls he meets. Now, I know I'm picky when it comes to the guys I date, but isn't that normal? I mean, I'm not going to have any kind of relationship with someone I don't like. Well apparently I'm too picky because I always find one thing or another wrong with guys, no matter how big or small it is. Isn't it the little things that matter though? I don't see anything wrong with being extremly selective, I think it's a good thing. The reasons I find are completely ligit too. A 22 yr old who doesn't drive and still lives with the 'rents, someone who is overly clingy, taking life too seriously. I don't see how this is being overly picky. These people just aren't my type, obviously. I know I won't end up with the wrong person that way. Not that I'm looking to settle down at this point, I'm not really even looking for anything. At this point I'm content just having fun. Oh and if they can get past me then they'll probably get through with the family and friends.

Little Shop of Horrors

Last night Ashlee and I went to see Little Shop of Horrors at Shea's Theatre. It was amazing! Not just the show, but the whole night. Since I don't have a car here and since she doesn't even have a lisence we had to take the bus downtown. We actually managed to get on the right bus at the right time and everything. Not only that but we had to walk a few blocks this way and that way and every other whichway, and again we didn't get lost! We found the theatre with lots of time to spare, so we decided dessert at a little restaurant across the street would be a good idea, and it really was! We had seats in almost the very last row in the highest tier of the balcony, but Ididn't care. The way that Shea's is set up it's better to be in the balcony than in the orchestra. The view is better. The show itself was incredible and absolutely hilarious! I loved it. The guy who played the dentist was a little off, but he wasn't terrible. On the way back we had to walk a little farther to a different bus stop and wait for about 25 minutes. That was kind of creepy, especially when a sketchy thug-type walked over and started talking to/hitting on us (he was waiting for the bus too not just randomly harrassing us). Strangely enough though, I've become accustomed to his type and all the other sketchballs that ride the bus, so it didn't really phase me. So that was my "pretend birthday" as Ashlee called it and I had a great time! We're getting season tickets for next year. I'll definately come back to visit and see Rent, Mama Mia!, Spam-a-lot, and any of the other shows they have coming through!
