Off to A Good Start

So far the semester has been great. I'm having a lot of fun with the Operas I'm stage managing and I've made a lot of really good friends through these shows. Mainly Steve, he's just fantastic. We've become bffs in the past three days lol. I'm not hanging out with the theatre kids as much lately, which is kind of a good thing. I like having my space and friends outside of theatre. Having the same conversations over and over is very dull, as I'm sure you can imagine it would be. I've been keeping busy, as usual though. Other than working on the operas I'm still the treasurer for Mask & Hammer (which is much easier this semester), I'm taking 5 classes at the moment, all of which I enjoy. I'm picking up two mini courses (5 weeks each) later in the semester because I was hired as a tutor by the college. If I take these courses I get paid more ;-). I haven't been assigned any students yet, but it's very early in the semester so I'm not really worried about it. I've also been applying everywhere for a summer internship. I'm really hoping to get in at Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, that would be perfect! I would be close to home and my friends who stay in Oneonta and I can also get internship credit because my adviser could check in on me periodically.
Nothing really major is happening out here, just general business like always. So until something exciting happens, so long!

Last Day of Freedom

Today is the last day I get to do anything and nothing. Rehearsals for the operas start tomorrow so I will be there from 1-10pm. Fun. I might give Melissa The Medium tomorrow just so I don't have to be there for 9 hours. I've already talked to her about being my rehearsal stage manager for it. She likes rehearsals more than I do. I'd be perfectly happy not going to any rehearsals and just calling the show. We'll see how it goes though. So today I'm just lazing around and doing as little as possible. Well, almost. I washed dishes and cleaned the house up a little already. Chris has been back since yesterday and Kyle is currently moving back in. It's been just me and Andrew here for the most part so having his housemates back is going to be a little weird for a couple of days. I get to move back to campus tomorrow though, so having my own space again will be SO nice!!
Yesterday Andrew went to his parents' house so I had Q meet us and I spent the day with him. I'm not sure how I'll cope with him being in Germany for the next few years. He leaves on Monday so last night we said our goodbyes. Andrew came by Q's later, along with a bunch of other people and they had a party. Andrew and I had to drive back here to Oneonta though so neither of us were drinking. It was fun though. Andrew gave Q some anime series so Q gave Andrew a whistley thing that you can play songs from Zelda on (yes, they're dorks.) Q also gave me his old guitart cuz he didn't want it anymore, so now I actually have something to learn on :-) Apparently Andrew has made an impression on the boys because he and Q were talking about him visiting Germany and having a mini European adventure. Then Dan asked Andrew if he and a couple of his suitemates could come visit. I'm happy they get along, but geez, my friends are now coming to visit my boyfriend and not me!! I don't mind though, I'm really happy that they all get along so well :-)
I filled out a bunch of applications around town and in the mall and whatnot, but no one is hiring right now apparently so I'm going to wait and apply at the writing center to be a tutor this semester. They work around your schedule and if I take a few mini courses (5 weeks) I can make up to $14 an hour, which I don't think is too bad. We'll see how that goes though.
Ok, well I guess that's about it. Nothing else has really been happening. Starting tomorrow life goes back to being chaotic for a while so who knows when I'll have time to blog again.

Back in Oneonta

I decided to cut break at home short this year. Not having a car was just too hard at home, so now I'm back out in Oneonta until classes start on the 16th. Now the job hunt begins. My class schedule for this semester is much more open , which will make it much easier to have an off-campus job. I don't have class until 2pm on Tuesday and Thursdays so I figure I can work until about 1pm and that will give me enough time to get back to campus and have a little time to relax. I can also pick up a few weekends here and there when I'm not working a show. Until classes start I want to try to work as much as possible, but who knows how I will get scheduled. Finding a job first is probably an important part of my plan though. There are plenty of places around though. So the job hunt begins. For now I'm just trying not to die. Yesterday my back just kind of locked up to the point where i couldn't bend over or anything. It got worse around 4am when it hurt so much I got sick. So now I'm loaded up with more Ibuprofen than I should probably have taken. Andrew has to go back home tonight to get his stitches out so I'm thinking a soak in the hot tub might help my back :-)
