This semester has definitely had it's major ups and downs; it started off terribly and followed a steady downward trend. I hated everything and everyone for a while. Thankfully, life has done a complete 180 and I'm uncharacteristically happy.
Next week is the last week of classes, for most schools this week is the last week so that kind of stinks. Every semester this is the time when I was scrambling not only to get everything done but also to try to locate my mind. Finals are usually ridiculously stressful, but this semester however, is radically different. I am now more relaxed and carefree than I have been all semester. It's not that I'm not taking difficult classes or that I have a lot of free time because I am actually still extremely busy, but I feel a lot more organized and prepared right now. The only major projects I have to do are a final play map for play analysis and visual research project for Intro to Theatre. I'm not worried about either one because although they are both going to be time consuming, they're fairly easy to do. I have a final paper to write for Greek Drama, but it's about the movie TROY which we are watching for the last 3 classes, awesome right? We have one test in lighting and then the final exam, both of which I'll have to study for but I always do well on
Bagby's tests. Intro will also have a final, but right now it's
Bagby's turn to teach for the last few weeks and since I've already taken all of his classes the material is all review. I've aced his tests for the
most part and he recycles questions so I just have to look over my stagecraft, scene design, and lighting notes and I'm golden. The final exam for play analysis is just a text map of a very short play and then we have to apply a literary theory to it. That's probably the only final that I'm nervous about. We don't have a final in Comp315, our final project is just diagramming sentences from a 5
th grade workbook. We also haven't had that class since before break because the professor has either been sick or interviewing applicants for new teaching positions. That's about it as far as classes go.
Last week was the Terpsichorean Dance Company's show, which the lighting class designed lights for. We were each given one dance and got to play with the lights--it was a lot of fun. I also ran the sound board and DVD for the performances. Rather than having
MCs this year they decided to interview the choreographers and play a 2.5 minutes of the interview in between each dance. I think it worked well but 2.5 minutes is a long time and the audiences got a little restless. Once that ended I went right on to the next show,
The Children's Hour which opened on Tuesday and runs through Saturday. I've been working on costuming for it for the past month or so to get practicum credit for my major. It's nothing exciting and I'm fairly useless in the costume shop but oh well, the stuff gets done eventually. I'm also still working on the operas for the music club so finding time to go to those rehearsals has been a bit of a challenge, but I manage.
So that's my update, kinda long and very boring but hey if you've read this much you probably don't have anything better to do at work/in class...or you're avoiding homework ;-)
