Thanksgiving

Just got back from Thanksgiving break-- a week is way too long for me to spend at home! I hung out with Q and a few friends for the first few days, then spend a lot of time at Dad's doing a whole lot of nothing. It wasn't terrible, but I didn't touch any of the homework I brought home with me. We had Thanksgiving at Ange's new house, it wasn't a terrible day, but it also wasn't one of our best get-togethers either. After I got back to Dad's that night, Q came and got me and we got lost in Nassau trying to get to Jon's house, then we got lost in Averill Park trying to get to his cousin's house, then we headed to Noelle's for a bit before going to his house to get some sleep. On Black Friday, Q, Dan, and I drove to Poughkeepsie to look at theses absolutely hideous and ridiculous shoes that the boys wanted. I was the only one who ended up buying something--I found really cute rainboots with stars on them :-). We drove back and got an early dinner with Q's mom before Q and I went back out to buy Matt a guitar. After an hour in Guitar Center and a frightening 5 minutes in an old people/hippie sex shop, I went to spend the night at Ange's. We had fun, despite the total let-down that Forgetting Sara Marshall is. It's supposed to be a comedy-comedy my ass! It went from kinda funny to drama to ridiculous to sad to romance. F that! What happened to straight up funny movies?? The next day we went shopping and I found my dress for the Snowflake and I got presents for all of my suitemates. Then Mom, Ange, Bryon and I went out to dinner before I went to mom's so she could drive me back to school. I'm excited to stay with Ange over winter break--I think we're going to have a good time :-)
And now I'm back to school and attempting to catch up on all the work I didn't do this semester! (It doesn't help that I skipped a class on the first day back lol--luckily the class ended up being canceled so it doesn't really count)

Lots of Things

So obviously, a lot of things have happened since I last posted. I'm back at school and missing Glimmerglass like it's my job. We closed my last show on Saturday--Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard-- it was one of the best experiences I've had during my time at SUCO. When I say it's my last show, it's my last one for the department. The next thing I'll be working on is the opera for the music department and after that I'm stage managing Beauty and the Beast for the theatre downtown.
I'm tired of being the president of the theatre club, thank god elections for the new e-board happen in two weeks. I'm sick of the drama. I only became president because I didn't like anyone else who was running last year. There's a lot of drama going on in the department in general because of APO, the theatre honor society. I'm pretty much done with it all. I'll finish out the semester with it because I have a little, but next semester I won't have to deal with anything and it will be wonderful. I'm so ready to graduate. Sometimes I regret the decision to stay until May and wish I was getting out next month, but then there are things that are keeping me here to finish the year. Mostly it's friends. I love my suitemates, we have such a good time together and I don't want to leave them yet. I've also met a pretty great guy (not that I would ever let a guy hold me back from want I want to do) but we have such a good time together and I'm not ready for that to end either.
We have next week off, so I can't wait until Friday. I'll be free at 2pm and will not have to come back until next Sunday. Plus Q is finally coming home from Germany, so I'm wicked excited about that!! This visit with him is pretty much going to save my sanity. It just sucks that it's only for a week :-( but I'll take what I can get and I won't complain.
I will however, complain about the 15 page paper I have due on Friday...ok well it's only the rough draft, but still, I haven't done any reasearch becasue I hate the topic I chose and it's too late to change. Oh well, I'll bullshit something.

Rain

It rains a lot here.

I still like it despite the rain. It's kind of a sad time though. A lot of people's contracts are ending, meaning they're leaving us and going home. This weekend is Shop Party though so JC is footing the bill for the production people to basically get drunk and party in the pain shop for the night. It's going to be a blast and I'm wicked excited about it.
Tomorrow is junk set wars too, so the carps and props departments compete against each other and are given a challenge to build something out of the pieces of scenery that were built and not used. The riggers try to sabotage both teams. It's bound to be a good time :-)
I have to leave early though, depending on when Kyle is coming. Me him and Ray are driving to Kingston to get Alanna and then we're going to Angela's for her grad party. Then on Saturday, we're all going to Six Flags Great Adventure. Then we have to get back in time for me to be back to work on Sunday to set up for Shop Party. It's going to be a crazy-fun weekend :-D

Glimmerglass

Alright, so it's been a few months, things have been pretty busy--fun but busy. The year ended with Into the Woods, I was so ready for it to be over. I won best ASM and blooper of the year (for Milky-White's death) at the Teddies. It wasn't a particularly fun weekend because of a bunch of ridiculous drama that happened with some people on e-board. Not to worry though because next year I'll be president and the trouble makers were not voted back in. I am the only returning member to the e-board in the fall, so we will have a very different dynamic, especially now that certain debbie-downers in the club have graduated. Don't get me wrong, I like all of them in one way or another, but it was time for the class to move on.

On to more fun things! I am at Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown this summer as a production administration intern. I am having a blast, I love my co-workers and I am not going to want to leave at the end of August. My job isn't the most exciting, we do a lot of really random jobs. We do budget tracking, purchasing, shopping, crew meals, and any other random thing that comes up. I am working on a facebook that has every person's name, picture, department, and job. I also work a lot with the safety coordinator doing inspections, stocking first aid kits, getting material safety data sheets, etc. Work is fun, but our nights and days off are just ridiculously fun! We go to The Breakfast House, which is a B&B with amazing home cooked food for almost no money at all. From there we usually go to the Canajoharie River to swim and tan and have picnics. It's such a beautiful area! We hiked up a mountain behind the Breakfast House and sat at the overlook for a while--such a fantastic view! We've also taken trips to Utica to see movies and go to dinner. Our adventures are only fun because of the people that go on them. JD, Chapel, Ashley, Francesca, and I make up the core of Team Adventure. It's not always all of us, but it's always some variation of that group. We hang out all the time at the residence where we're housed.
We also had a company BBQ for Memorial Day, and the lighting coordinator, Jeff, took me around the lake on his motorcycle, it was AMAZING! He's been coming to Glimmerglass for 15 years so he knows the area much better than I do. Yesterday, he had to return the rental truck that brought the lighting equipment in, so he needed someone to drive another car to Oneonta with him so he'd have a ride back. Chapel and Jenn really didn't want to go, so I volunteered. I really didn't mind, even though we weren't leaving until after dinner. We didn't actually leave until 7:30, but it was a fun trip because we grabbed the radios that we all use on campus so we could talk. Neither of us knew the route that GoogleMaps gave us, eventually I knew where I was, but it was a fun adventure. On the way back Jeff bought me ice cream as a thank you and we had a really awesome conversation. I'm really glad I volunteered now because he is a really great guy.
Today we once again went to the Breakfast House, but it started to rain so we didn't go to the river, but instead chased the storm. It was me JD and Francesca, and we kept getting out of the truck to play in the rain, then we'd get back in and follow the storm. We ended up getting really lost and going off-roading. It was fun until we discovered the rock jammed into one of the tires. So we put on the spare, pulled out the GPS, and found our way home. Then I napped for two hours lol. Now a few of us are just hanging around in the common room having a chill night.
That's about it for now. I'll try to update more often haha

This rock ruined the day.

Spring Break

This is my last spring break and it's going to be very uneventful, which I'm not all that disappointed about. I'm staying at one of the theatre houses on Lawn for the week so I can get some work done in he theatre and the library.
I went home late Saturday night so I could be home for Eastern, which was also very uneventful. We went to Bryon's parent's and I ate too much. On Monday I was up at 6:15am to go to work with mom but ended up going to St. Rose to hang out with Danny Boy for the day. I bought him breakfast cuz I felt bad for making him get up at 7:30. We just hung out in his suite for a few hours and talked, which was nice. I don't remember the last time we had a chance to talk for so long. Around 11 we headed over to good old APHS to visit old teachers. The students had the day off but the faculty was there. Dan went to visit Mr Blostien, the orchestra teacher, and I went to see Keebs, my old director and English teacher. He was building giants for the intermediate theatre class's show, so I helped a little and we talked for a while, and somehow I ended up modeling the giant so he couls see if it was working the way he wanted it to.

It was fun to play with, and surprisingly lightweight. Around 2 Andrew came and got me and we headed back to Oneonta. I kept falling asleep on the way back lol. So we finally got back and I took a shower so I wouldn't pass out at 4pm and went to see who was left in this dead little town for the week.
I found KBurch, Adam, Jake, and Diana so we hung out and decided we were going to be responsible adults and start drinking at 4:30 and see how long we could make it lol. I fell asleep by 10:30. But we had fun. We went to the park to play Frisbee, ordered pizza, watched Aladdin, had a sing-along. It was great...and we'll be doing the same thing all week :-) !! haha
I should probably get dressed now, Jake, Diana and I are heading up to the theatre to get some work done soon.

I Fell Off My Bike...

This was my final execution for blood guts and gore. The story behind it is that I fell off my bike and my sunglasses got jammed into my face and cut the bridge of my nose, gave me black eyes and tore the skin off of my cheek. I cut my lip too.

Start of Something Gross

We're starting our "blood, guts, and gore" phase. So I pulled part of my cheek off this afternoon. On Thursday we have to have a fully executed design so I'll post that too.

My cheek hurt so much after I pulled all the latex off and was red for almost an hour!
