"Miss Maturity"

Last night Ashlee and I went to see Buff State's production of Les Liaisons Danereuses (the play that the movie Cruel Intentions was based on.) We sat down and were reading the programs and whatnot when an obnoxious group of girls came and sat directly behind us. There were about 4 of them, along with their mother. They were ridiculously loud throughout the ENTIRE play! I was ready to turn around and smack every one of them. THe mother too becasue a.) she was just as bad and b.) she did nothing to make them shut up. Now mind you, we were sitting in hte second row, which means they were in the third, since they were so loud, I'm almost positive that the actors on stage could hear them. At the end of the show there is a scene where Valmont and Danceny duel. It's not a comical act. They were laughing obnoxiously through the whole thing. The language of the play was somewhat thick, so naturally it went over their little blonde heads and thus they were bored. Wouldn't the natural reaction to bordom with a show be to leave at intermission? Not for these idiots. SO at the end of the show I turned and politely said "Next time you go to the theatre I suggest you have a little more respect for those around you." and then turned to leave. Well then Big Mama comes pushing through the girls at me and says "Well excuse me Miss Maturity, they're only 16 and it's their first time at the theatre. i think they did very good." I wanted to slap her in her big ugly face. 16??!?!!? I knew how to act in a theatre at age 6 for crying out loud! SO I gave her a look that pretty much said "And your point is....?". She didn't like that too much so she goes off again. "They're not as mature as you, they're only in high school. You need to think about things before you start lecturing." (She would have known if I was lecturing. Refer back to the Respect speech at the Mr. AP show last April, then tell me what lecturing is.) So I sweetly looked at her and said "I'm just saying that you all need to show more respect for the audience around you and the actors onstage." Then I turned away and waited for Ashlee to get her coat on. Meanwhile, , Big Mama and the 4 morons left in a huff. I was still ridiculously angry at this point. Shaking even. On the way back Ash and I met up with Jon, a kid in our theatre class and I yelled across the quad "I hate it when non theatre people go to the theatre!" to which he agreed. He started talking about how he could hear a group of girls through the whole thing, and about how the audience was laughing at the wrong parts. He was sitting at least 8 rows in back of us and in another section...and he heard the pack of idiots behind me. So now, there is no doubt in my mind that the actors heard them. Ugh. I get so angry at the ignorance of others. It's one thing to talk in a movie theatre, but to talk during a live show? Come on, have some manners. But whatever, they can embarrass themselves all they want.

This is clearly why white trash does not belong at anything remotely cultural. Idiots.

Then Ash and I went to Pano's and it was amazing. So I was less angry. Now I have to write a paper on the show. I don't know how good it will be thanks to the idiots behind me, but I'll try (and there will be a footnote describing why I couldn't concentrate on the show lol)
